A visual essay of asemic works in A5, published under the imprint of Asemic New Babylon, the online community I started. Works from the book were shown at Asemic Arts Expo (2020).

During the 2020 lockdown I renamed my studio DCR to DRC and built a badminton court on its roof: a net cut in half, held up by buckets filled with concrete.

Facebook's algorithm then placed the club in Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I did not correct the error. A wifi network called DRC Badmintonclub marks the club where the algorithm put it.

During the first lockdown I asked passers-by which sculpture of the Beeldengalerij they remembered, and what they would put on the pedestal themselves. In Dutch.

An essay for West Den Haag's series Art and crisis. It begins with an imaginary interviewee and ends with Georges Perec's novel without the letter e.

Made under the pseudonym Josh Martin. The instruction asks for three bottles of pancake syrup to be squeezed over the sculpture.

With the thesis Niet de kunst maar de sukkel die konst (title page: Niet de kunst maar de sokkel waar kunst op staat). It proposes recognising the municipal cleaning service as artists: a Trojan horse for art.

A revised English edition of Ovismen. Its prologue turns to the aleatoric process and to the translation algorithm itself. The book can be printed on demand; it remained a concept edition.

An installation set in the head of the editor of a fictional newspaper, who returns to the 1907 Peace Conference to find out why a Korean delegation was refused. I was present as the curator of my own exhibition.

A theatrical installation with a podcast as field research: I asked dog owners what art should do. Owners of mixed breeds wanted something immaterial; owners of pedigree dogs wanted something useful, something you can sit on.

For De Hoofdafdeling Bijzaken Belastingdienst, a fictional department of the Dutch tax authority, made with fellow students. Motto: “Makkelijker kunnen we het niet maken, wel menselijker.”

Ninety-nine ovisms in an imaginary language. Translation programs recognised 652 of its 1,134 words, spread over 54 languages. Plotted on a map, they locate an imaginary country: Malaovia, north of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
